Room 14A First Grade - Mrs. Monroe |
|
Welcome to the Room 14A Classroom Website! My name is Mrs. Monroe and I am a first grade teacher at Calabasas Elementary School. This is my first year teaching the 1st grade, although I have been a teacher for more than 6 years. I really love to teach and work with children. I also really love computers. I used to work for a company that built a website with fun learning activities just for kids! I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and went to college at UC Berkeley. My students tease me when I wear my bear hat on the Fridays before Cal home football games. Some people don’t know that I played the saxaphone in the UC Berkeley Marching Band a long time ago. I also play the oboe, flute and am learning how to play the guitar. I live in Santa Cruz with my husband, one year old twins and 12 year old dog named Worf. My husband is a professor of Archaeology and travels to Africa every year to do his research. One of our favorite things to do is travel. We’ve been to Canada, Puerto Rico, England, France, Isreal, and to West Africa (Benin and Ghana). We’ve also traveled to lots of places here in the United States! Enough about me! Read on to learn about what we’re doing in our classroom! |
HAPPY MARCH!The weather is warming up and the trees are blossoming! This month we are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day! We’ll be celebrating with a party, so don’t forget to wear your green. This month, we’ll continue learning about art and ceramics with Mrs. Stevens. By mid-month, we will begin learning all about gardening outside with Mr. Cronyn! We will also start Theme 8 in our Reading Anthology called “Our Earth.” Students will be reading all about plants and animals is our environment. In math, we will continue working on addition and subtraction fact families. Toward the end of the month we will learn all about money and time! I’m so excited! |
