Welcome to the Room 15 Third Grade Website for Ms. Schultz’s Class

Coming to You Soon - A Writing Celebration

Ms. Schultz’s students will soon be bringing home information about a writing celebration. We hope parents will be able to attend. At the celebration all children will read from their own writing, and the class will sing several of the many songs they have learned since January.

Spelling Success - Practice Makes Perfect

Every Thursday night the children will ask someone in the family to read their spelling words from the list, while they write the words without looking at the list. Then the family member should correct the child’s work by putting an “X” beside each misspelled word. The child must write each wrong word five times on the back of the paper. By doing this, the child will hopefully learn to correctly spell all the words. The next day, when the spelling test is given by the teacher, the children will have a better chance of passing the test.

May 13 - Fieldtrip to Wilder Ranch, North of Santa Cruz

In April all third grade teachers will be sending home parent permission slips and requests for chaperones for our 2009 field trip to Wilder Ranch. Our social studies curriculum includes learning about the community, and at Wilder Ranch will learn about an agricultural community of a hundred years ago.

The Importance of a Good Breakfast

By 10:00 AM the children are starving, even if they had a good breakfast. Those who ate no breakfast sometimes complain of feeling sick. If parents would be willing to send 20 of something to school for the children to eat at 10:00, the snacks would be very much appreciated. And PLEASE make sure your child eats a good breakfast. There is a breakfast available at school, but many children choose not to eat it in favor of going out to play with their friends.
